So I know what you’re thinking. This looks familiar. You’ve seen this before. Didn’t she once or twice take a break from social media before? And the truth is you’re right. This is about to be a repeat of last November. The crunch time right before finals. The last weeks of class. When all the papers are due. On top of reading the books that I’ll be writing about. There’s the research. There’s the thinking. And then comes the writing. Plus don’t forget reading all the books that will be on the exams too.
So why is this happening? Because I’m a creature of habit? Maybe. Because I’m not any better at self-control now than I was a couple months ago? Very possible. Because I have to choose the career that has the highest chance of paying me (academia) over the career that I love the most (writing/dating/generally being awesome)? Word. Truth be told I kind of blame you guys. You’re just too awesome and I can’t stay away. So here’s the spiel. Much like it was before. With a change or two made…
Just a smidge over 4 weeks. That’s all. 30 days really. Of me, standing strong and surviving without social media. That’s barely a blip on the timeline of a life. Barely hits the radar. You probably won’t even notice. Honestly I only tell you guys because if I don’t. Well that self-control. It’ll go to shit. And I won’t break. I won’t focus. I won’t be vigilant. So I tell you. I make a statement. I make a tiny scene. Because it’s like a contract. One that I’ll stick to.
